Centenial Arena Gets A New
Community Addition

By: Rupe Power

I remember when the Centenial Arena, 27 Vimy Avenue, Halifax, Nova Scotia opened in 1967. We were so excited to get our own rink. Before that we had played our minor hockey at the Civic Arena, or at 13 pond.

A $500,000 addition to the Centennial Arena in the Halifax community of Fairview officially opened in April 2018.
The new multipurpose room was the dream of the arena’s first general manager, Jack Poteri who passed away in 2012.
The addition will be used for off-ice training activities for both hockey and figure skating and make the facility available to the community as another meeting area.
